Huawei, said the company has elevated its position to the number three position in the global smartphone market. Huawei Smartphones gained a 5.1 percent share, as it grew shipments 67% annually to 12.7 million units in Q3 according to new reports.
Researchers attributed the rise to strong sales of its higher-end Ascend P6 and the mainstream G610, particularly in China.
According to Yang Shu - President and Chief Executive Officer, South-East Asia Region, Huawei Technologies, Huawei experienced 30% year-over- year growth in the region, including Sri Lanka which is a significant achievement. He further commended, “Huawei Technologies Lanka (Pvt) Ltd team encompasses highly skilled consultants both international and local understanding the different market and needs of Sri Lanka”.

The Huawei Ascend P6, available in black, white and pink with matching color cases, is only 6.18 mm in thickness and is the world’s slimmest smartphone yet. The smartphone features a 1.5GHz quad-core processor and a sleek metallic body. Speaking about the achievement Daniel Sun - CEO Huawei Technologies Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. said, “The global ranking to third place is yet another feather in the cap which complements the local market performance. This year, Huawei Sri Lanka continues to witness a strong sales growth becoming a popular choice in the local smartphone market”.
